Homecooked food

We have been cooking everyday since we moved in! I'm so glad I had a crash course from my mum before I came for exchange. Things like how to cut onions, how to cut meat, how to cook rice etc. I was a total noob! Brought lots and lots of premix so I can cook my own Chinese meals :D
Very first homecooked meal! I was super excited as it was the first time I am cooking alone without my mum guiding me! I cooked eggs with cai poh, black pepper chicken and curry! Not too bad for a first attempt I guess. We gradually improved and explored more recipes :D

Really have the luxury of time to cook here. Hope I can level up more and bring some nice recipes back to cook for my fam! :)

Rockwood Park & Reversing Falls

Went to Rockwood park a few weeks back. It is the one of the largest parks in North America and pretty near my apartment. It's so huge that you have to drive inside. A nice Egypt friend we made here drove us there. He is abit suspicious though, or maybe we are just not used to people being over friendly. It's better to be safe than sorry right :/

Saw some horses and goats.

One of the many lakes in the park.

Visited the reversing falls as well. Apparently the falls would reverse when tides change. Met an old couple who specially travelled from US to view it. Had a small chat with them too. It was a pity we didn't get to see it because we were rushing off to church!

Whale Watching

Went for a day trip to Saint Andrews for whale watching last Saturday! Was pretty excited to see the whales as this was my virgin experience. But was also a little disappointed when it was raining in the morning but luckily it stopped! Made a few new international exchange friends today!

The free soup came in really handy because it got soooo cold when we were in the middle of the ocean. I couldnt stop shivering, and my legs felt like jelly I was better off sitting down spotting whales.

The pretty ship we boarded :)

Mum commented that my face became rounder. Oh well.

Spot the whale!

Two dolphins!

Seal's head

Okay my shots are really bad. I just couldn't capture the right timing because it is pretty unpredictable. And there were many people crowding around trying to snap pictures but I don't really want to squeeze in. These are the best I could take. But it was really awesome to see them in real life. We were on the boat for 4 hours plus! In the beginning we didn't spot any, then it was so foggy and cold, then it began to pour. It was REAL BAD. But after awhile whales started appearing! More and more just kept coming out of the water. OUR MONEY WASN'T WASTED AFTER ALL :D Another part of my life is complete :')

Baking :)

I usually don't bake AT ALL. I don't know much about baking and I only know how to eat. But the kitchen here is so well equipped for baking, plus we had TY as the shifu so we started to bake during our free time!

Baking session #1: Apple Crumble

Ice cream makes everything perfect :D

Baking session #2: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baking session #3: Soft & Moist Banana Cake
SO YUMMY! :D

There are so many things I want to bake now to satisfy all my sweet tooth cravings!! Can't wait to try them out! :D

Toronto

Travelled Toronto from 1 to 4 September! It was a nice city with lots of good food - Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc. We were so happy because we dont have such food back in Saint John :< Spent most of our time eating there! We have been stuck in a town for too long, it was really good to see the city again. We explored mainly the uptown area. High rise buildings and a huge mall, felt like I was in Orchard. Shopped at F21, H&M and other small shops. We were really deprived of shopping because there is NOTHING to shop in Saint John. Quite happy to be able to shop although it wasn't that cheap! And University of Toronto is HUGEEEEE. Its located in town and like 10x the size of NTU I think.

We had free accommodation thanks to TY. We stayed at her cousin's bf's place (All guys) and they were so nice to us. Had a great time hanging out with them! They brought us out for bubble tea on the first night. Virgin bubble tea in Canada, but I got to say the ones in Singapore taste way better.

Check out David's Tea. They have awesome flavours of tea from fruity, floral to even chocolate and desserts like creme brulee! Interesting names like Love Tea #7, that's one of my fav! We could stay in the shop for like an hour smelling all the different types of tea. They are pretty affordable too! I bought 6 flavours for myself :D

Kensington market. One of my favs!

Had a yummy churros! The guy was so friendly he taught me numbers in Spanish and ^5 me!

Most tasty ramen I have ever eaten. The pork was tender and the soup was just right.

MY LOVE. Eggs benny with smoked salmon. As tasty as it looks :D

CHICKEN WINGS. The guys cooked for us! Such nice hosts.

HK dim sum restaurant. Not very cheap but the standard was good.

St Lawrence market. Bought some yummy ice wine here to thank the guys for their hospitality! :)

Wonderland! I'm not a very theme park person as I am still secretly scared of rides that are too thrilling. But I managed to take quite abit of rides here! Achievement unlocked :D

CONQUERED THIS! Highest drop I have experienced in my life thus far.

Distillery District, a place full of many nice cosy cafes.

Lots of paninis

Random hunt for macarons. We went to 3 cafes and this was the most value for money. Love the pistachio, hazelnut and blueberry jam ones!

Red velvet macaron that was ex so we bought one to share. so precious and it TASTES LIKE HEAVEN.

Ending off with my favourite buy. My virgin pair of TOMS :)
